Small Groups

We love it when people join in connecting with others around His Word and in the lives of others!

Our small groups are structured by trimesters:
Winter/Spring, Summer, and Fall
Each semester gives people an easy place to jump in to a group and get connected.

Spring 2026 SMALL GROUPS

Beginning January 12th

Prayer Cohorts

Is prayer ever  awkward for you? Do you get easily distracted? Are you uncomfortable praying  out loud or with other people? Is prayer something you believe actually  works, or has cynicism gotten the best of you? You are not alone. One of the  most profound privileges for the Christian is our invitation to prayer. We  serve a God who not only lavishes his grace upon us but invites us into his  tapestry of work through the act of praying. It is the primary way by which  we encounter His presence, are transformed by His Spirit, and gain a deeper  knowledge of the One who has called us to Himself. Summit Ridge desires to be  a church bathed in prayer and we believe that by approaching it together, we  can encourage and teach each other to really pray. Join us this semester as  we read through "A Praying Life" by Paul Miller and we will watch  the Lord Jesus transform our lives and hearts through our worshipful act of  prayer.

Hope Groups

We have found that what God reveals He intends to heal. God mends what is broken.

We seek to offer Biblical counseling as we find that Christ revealed in the Bible is the way, the truth and the life. Scriptural truths apply to ancient and modern problems alike. We want to come alongside those who are hurting, oppressed and struggling. We recognize that suffering and sin in all forms coming at you needs to be recognized as what it is and processed through with Biblical insights. We aim to bridge the gap where life and Scripture meet.

What are Hope Groups? Check out our deep dive about what these groups are in the video down below.

Terry & Lynn Sonnenburg

Co-ed Group

Mondays @ 6:30 PM
All of us have experienced some type of loss in our lives, but have you ever wondered what it looks like to grieve like a Christian? Whether facing the loss of a loved one, grieving the end of an important relationship, struggling with failing health, or even being abruptly detoured from a long held career path, the pain and sting can be unbearable. In the Grief Hope Group, we will bring our grief, sorrow, and sadness to the Lord, ask all the hard questions, and learn to lament biblically and grieve with hope. Sign up if you haven’t processed your feelings elsewhere or are noticing warning signs of unresolved or lingering grief.

We have a number of books that we will be reading this semester. The cost for participation is $43 and all resources will be provided at our first meeting.

This is a co-ed group. We have limited space in this group, so please sign up for the wait list if it is full.

Please note, this is a high-commitment group where weekly homework and regular attendance are critical.

Men's Group

Wednesdays @ 6:30 PM
Ever since the fall in the Garden, we can plainly see that God's design for sex has been splintered through both sin and suffering.   Perhaps you've known this disintegration in your own life or want to help someone who has?  Has pornography, promiscuity, or some other sexual behavior become something from which you or someone you love can't seem to break free? Is marital love dying due to the choices you or your spouse have made?  Is a future spouse elusive because your standard is defined by images in magazines or romance novels? Are you struggling to live with sexual integrity as a single person? Male or female, single or married, we've all gotten so much wrong.  But there is biblical hope for renewal!

In this Hope Group we will learn what it means to have "Sexual Integrity" as God defines it in His word.  In Christ, He is truly making all things new!  We will take a truth-filled and grace-empowered approach to all that is wrong with our view and approach to sex.  Through both practical theology and relevant applications, we will find God's design for human flourishing in intimacy and see how he restores our brokenness for his glory and our good!

We have a number of books that we will be reading this semester. The cost for participation is $32 and all resources will be provided at our first meeting.

This is a confidential group for men only. We have limited space in this group, so please sign up for the wait list if it is full.

Please note, this is a high-commitment group where weekly homework and regular attendance are critical.

If you struggle with fear, worry, or anxiousness and find yourself often stressing out or obsessing over finances, health, interpersonal relationships, the future, or well-being of a loved one, the Anxiety Hope Group is for you whether you are experiencing a garden variety type of anxiety or are clinically diagnosed. Together we will learn how to bring the very real threats of this fallen world to the Right Person and grow in our trust of His grace for today.

We have a number of books that we will be reading this semester. The cost for participation is $44 and all resources will be provided at our first meeting.

This group is for women only. If we have enough ladies who are interested, we may be able to host a second section - so please sign up for the wait list if it is full!

Please note, this is a high-commitment group where weekly homework and regular attendance are critical.

Sermon-based Groups

Quite often,  questions arise after hearing the word of God preached from the pulpit.  Perhaps something that was said did not make sense to you. Maybe there was a  word of encouragement that sustained you throughout the week. Regularly,  there is a particularly convicting message that you wish to explore further.  This is how the Holy Spirit works – He speaks through the word of God in  preaching and is intent on offering encouragement to the weary and conviction  to the unrepentant, inciting the hope of the Gospel in those who hear. These  small groups serve as an opportunity to discuss the previous week’s sermon  and dive deeper into its various themes.

"Abide" by Jen Wilken
How can we hold onto assurance of our faith? How can we discern the truth from a lie? How can we know God loves us? In these three short letters, the apostle John reminds an early church facing division, deception, and doubt to hold fast to what they know and to live like they believe it. And he reminds us, as well.

This small group on the letters of 1, 2, and 3, John, will help you see how two thousand years later, his words call to Christians in similar challenges to recall a great salvation and to abide in the truth.

Mom's Group

Tuesdays @ 9:30 AM
This group is a  kid-friendly group for moms to enjoy shared discussion focused around time in  the Word together. This is a good old fashioned Bible study. We will be reading half a chapter every week and working through a set of inductive  study questions. Do you ever read your Bible and feel like you don't  understand what you just read? These inductive questions will help you to  grow in really engaging with the Word, exploring the context and asking the  right questions!

James had a unique earthly relationship with Jesus, but his letter clarifies what the Christian life should look like for us all. The Book of James is filled with practical wisdom for Christians, calling us to live out genuine faith through good works, but it is also rooted in rich theology. Perhaps more than any other book in the New Testament, James emphasizes the application of Christian belief.

This small group will examine the core message of James: the relationship between faith and works. In our own ability, we cannot stand in the face of adversity. Without faith we could never find the strength to trust God. We would never be able to see above the trials we meet and to keep our eyes focused on the King while counting our trials as joy. This is the essence of James. We don’t work to be saved; we work because we are saved. Faith apart from works can never be sustained.

Christianity isn’t about following rules, it’s about a relationship. The rise in popularity of this phrase coincides with a growing disinterest and misunderstanding regarding the role of God’s life-giving, perfect law in the Christian life. Rather than the source of joy it was intended to be, the law is viewed as an angry god’s restrictions for a rebellious people.

In Ten Words to Live By, Jen Wilkin presents a fresh biblical look at the Ten Commandments, showing how they come to bear on our lives today as we seek to love God and others, to live in joyful freedom, and to long for that future day when God will be rightly worshiped for eternity. Learn to see the law of God as a feast for your famished soul, open to anyone who calls on the name of the Lord.
